This nine-piece ensemble was formed in 2011 at the Leeds College of Music and is regarded as one of the leading bands in the thriving British groove scene. Nubiyan Twist blends jazz improvisation, brass, and global sounds and is known for its driving live sound and infectious joy of playing. Nubiyan Twist is signed to the top-notch Strut Records (home to artists like Mulatu Astatke, Iris Ackamoor, Seun Kuti, and Sun Ra Arkestra) and is the go-to band in their homeland when a sunny party is on the agenda. On their fourth and latest album, ‘Find Your Flame’ (2024), the group perfected their sound with the help of stellar guests like Seun Kuti, Nile Rodgers, Ego Ella Mai, and Corto Alto. After winning over crowds at festivals as diverse as Glastonbury, WOMAD, Montreux Jazz, and David Byrne’s curated Meltdown, it’s Bruges’ turn.
